My Penguin Joke

This penguin joke is my favorite joke of all time, Really! It is cute, clean and suitable for any audience, just perfect for the holiday season…

A man pulls up to a Starbuck’s in his car and orders an espresso.

The barista notices three penguins sitting in the back seat of the car.

She asks the driver, “What’s up with the penguins in the back seat?”

He says “I found them and I have no idea what to do with them, not a clue.”

The barista ponders this and then says, “You should take them to the zoo.”

“Oh Thank you, that’s a good idea,” says the driver and drives away.

The next day the driver returns for another coffee and the barista sees that the penguins are still in the back seat of the car.

“Hey, they’re still here! I thought you were going to take them to the zoo.”

“Oh, I did,” says the driver, “And we had such a great time that today I am taking them to the beach.”

Different ways of telling the penguin joke:

I’ve read a version where a cop stops the car and yells at the man driving that transporting penguins is against the law and to take them to the zoo. Another has a gas station attendant noticing the penguins and suggesting the zoo. Sometimes the driver is a man, sometimes a woman, sometimes a blonde. 🙂

It is a film about the early days of television when shows were live action. Peter O’Toole stars and in a scene about midway through the film Benjamin Stone (Steinberg), played by Mark Linn-Baker, demonstrates to his date how to tell a joke using the classic joke style of his era. “This guy walks into a doctor’s office…” It is a very funny scene and a great movie.
