London 2012: Archaeology and the Olympics

This gorgeous axe head was among the items, along with Roman ruins and a complete 19th century boat that were found by archaeologists during the excavation of the site for the Olympic Park. Don’t you just wish you could hold it? I sure do. I have a hand axe that Scott and I found in Arizona but it is nothing like this beauty. This article London 2012: Archaeology and the Olympics – Archaeology Magazine discusses the find, which included ‘more than 10,000 artifacts, and revealed evidence of at least 6,000 years of human activity—from the area’s first prehistoric hunters and farmers to World War II defense structures.’
